The thing I hate about them, is there MySql server is extreamly slow, and my website seems to be down more then it is up.

I really don’t like moving hosting, and I dont want to make the same mastake again, so I am looking for a good quality web host, with uptime, and speed. If I have to spend a little extra that is fine as my sites have been making some money now and I would like to reinvest into them. One thing I do want is the host to offer unique Dedicated IPs, as I currently have 7 sites.

I know HostGator, and others charge – extra a month, per Dedicated IP. That is getting a little pricey, as I have 7, on top of the hosting fees.

If I have to spend the extra money I will, but if anyone can make a recommendation to a quality web host, with good uptime and speed, that would be even better.

My currently (3 year plan) expires in 15 days, and I am looking for USA hosting.

There you go you might have to change a few things but the top php code carries the section that needs to go on all pages accessable to members. The second snippet goes were you want to echo their name.

becomes

echo “You’re in!”; <— semi-colon missing.

Check the lines ABOVE the error when you see that unexpected token type error.

It kinda also looks like you will header out before you actually call that line though….
You code looks generally okay. You probably just have missing this and thats in places. I’ve been hacking PHP since dirt, and I still miss semi-colons all the time.
Big question here. What editor are you using, and does it have PHP syntax highlighting. That makes a WORLD of difference.

I just registered my domain name with ixwebhosting, and have been trying in vain to install the autofocus theme. I have been accessing the /wordpress/wp-content/themes via the control panel’s file manager and uploading the autofocus file to that place, then decompressing it. It shows up in the file manager, but not when I go to my wordpress page, the theme is not available.

Please realize that I know absolutely nothing about coding or the systems that work together to make a website. I am starting from scratch so don’t assume I am doing something that is common sense…Because I probably don’t know what that is! I have tried talking to IXwebhosting but although they try, they only reiterate what is on the wordpress support manuals. I have tried to figure this out myself and just can’t seem to get it.

visual web editor has built-in file upload software. I don’t have a problem getting the files onto the ftp server, I have a problem ON the ftp server. I created the website, of course, off of the internet using the named software, and AFTER I upload it is where I am having the problem. I was told that I needed to put everything into a file (mysite.com), but when I do this everything that was programmed (visual basic scripts, style sheets, masterpage, etc) doesn’t load into the the page, so I am left with an error. I was wondering if there was anyway I can make this work without having to put everything into a file. Is ixwebhosting just hard to work with? Is there a different place that would allow me to just upload and go? Is there something simple I can do to make it work? Thanks in advance.

I use GoDaddy, which I think should be more user friendly. I think what drew me to that is its cheap. I can’t wait to start using iPage once my terms with GoDaddy expires.

I was browsing around various web hosts and it sounds impressive that they’re a green company which offers lots of stuff other companies don’t. GoDaddy seems to win customers with its commercials, their strength is advertisement.

They say that the domains are “free for life”

I would assume that it’s free with the hosting so if you cancel the hosting they’ll cancel the domain. Domains have to be registered every year and that costs money. It sounds a little misleading. Try http://www.dakotawebhosting.com
